Literature

We want to reflect the union between land-history-literature on the labels of our wines, which feature fragments of short stories written for our winery by prominent contemporary writers. By doing so, we also convey that, at its core, our wine is an author’s wine, carefully crafted and highly artistic.

Las Moradas

“Las Moradas” is the title of the last book by Saint Teresa of Jesus, a treatise on prayer written in the area of San Martín de Valdeiglesias. Choosing this name for our winery is a nod to literature. The wines produced in this area were often mentioned in the works of the most important writers of the Spanish Golden Age: Tirso de Molina, Jorge Manrique, Cervantes….

So, literature and wine go hand in hand to express the essence of our wines with the help of authors such as Lorenzo Silva, Marta Rivera, Ramón Acín, Óscar Sipán, Ángeles Caso, Luis Zueco, Luz Gabás and Andrés Trapiello.

Marta Rivera de la Cruz

With the story Brindis, the Galician writer Marta Rivera de la Cruz invites you to get to know our wines and our wine region. Marta Rivera de la Cruz (Lugo, 1970) has a degree in Information Sciences and is a specialist in Political Communication from the Complutense University. She is currently Regional Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sports in the Community of Madrid. She has written novels such as “En tiempo de prodigios” (finalist for the Planeta Prize), “La importancia de las cosas” and “La primera tarde después de Navidad”.

Lorenzo Silva

Lorenzo Silva Amador was born on June 7th, 1966 in Madrid. He studied Law at the Complutense University and worked as a lawyer for a large company in the energy sector. However, his path has always been different. Known for his detective novels, some of his most outstanding novels are “El alquimista impaciente” (Nadal Prize 2000) and “La marca del meridiano” (Planeta Prize 2012).

Óscar Sipán

Óscar Sipán (Huesca, 1974). He has won several national literary competitions. In November of 2014 he was chosen as finalist for the first Gabriel García Márquez Ibero-American Short Story Prize, organised by the Colombian government, for his book of short stories “Quisiera tener la voz de Leonard Cohen para pedirte que te marcharas” (2013, Editorial Base). Screenwriter of two short films. He is editor and founding partner of Tropo Editores.

Ramón Acín

Ramón Acín (Piedrafita de Jaca, Huesca) holds a PhD in Philology from the University of Zaragoza, is a writer and literary critic. He has carried out extensive cultural work by promoting reading, publishing works and anthologies, directing literary magazines and participating in national and international conferences.

Ángeles Caso

Ángeles Caso was born in Gijón in 1959. She has a degree in Art History and is a writer. Author of novels, essays, biographies, children's literature, film scripts and translations, her work includes the novels “Contra el viento” (Planeta Prize 2009) and “Un largo silencio” (Fernando Lara Prize 2000) as well as the essay “Las olvidadas”. A history of women creators.

Luz Gabás

Luz Gabás was born in Monzón (Huesca) in 1968. She has a degree in English Philology, is a university lecturer and a novelist. She has combined teaching with other related activities including translation, publishing articles, literary and linguistic research, as well as participating in cultural, theatre and film projects. In 2012 he published her first novel “Palmeras en la nieve”. In 2022 she won the Planeta Prize with her work “Lejos de Luisiana”.

Luis Zueco

Luis Zueco was born in Borja (Zaragoza) in 1979. He is an industrial engineer, has a degree in History, as well as a degree in writing. He is also the director of Grisel Castle and a member of the Spanish Association of Friends of Castles, as well as an expert contributor on heritage and culture in various mmagazines and blogs. He is the author of several historical novels, including “El mercader de libros” (The Book Merchant).

Andrés Trapiello

Born in Manzaneda de Torío (León) in 1953, he has lived in Madrid since 1975. Poet, essayist and writer of novels and short stories, including “El buque fantasma” (The Ghost Ship). In 2015 he published an complete and accurate rendering of Don Quixote into modern-day Spanish. He has directed the publishing houses La Ventura and Trieste and currently directs the publishing house La Veleta. His work received the Premio de las Letras de la Comunidad de Madrid in 2002 and the Premio de las Letras de Castilla y León in 2010. He currently writes weekly for El Mundo, after forty years at El País.
